Women in Construction Week 2026

It’s Women in Construction Week, and this year, we asked our teammates to reflect on and celebrate the impact, leadership, and contributions of the women they work alongside every day.

Project Manager Sarah Narrow, Pictured Left:
“From the moment Sarah joined Dovetail, she hit the gas and started running circles around our project team. Her natural ability to think in 3D, coupled with her clear communication and positivity, makes her an essential leader and teammate. Sarah deserves more credit for balancing and multitasking. She’s able to accomplish so many competing needs. Sarah makes such a positive impact and pushes architecture forward through persistent attention to detail.”

“Sarah Narrow isn’t just an example of how women deserve their place in the industry but is a breath of fresh air to deal with. She walks and talks with a purpose and demands to be listened to, but brings a softness and humility to the table that is often unseen on the construction site. She makes people feel comfortable, heard, and valuable. She does this better than most any man I have worked with.”

Service Carpenter Jill Batten, Pictured Right:

““Jill is an essential part of our team, bringing curiosity, knowledge, and pure vibes to work every day. She is a ray of sunshine! It’s important for women like Jill to be visible in our industry because they keep job sites safe, sound, and smoothly operating. The unique and individual skillsets women bring to construction are imperative for a well-rounded project.”

Project Manager Ashley Sullivan, Pictured Left:
“Ashley is steadfast, organized, and constantly problem-solving; I appreciate learning from her experience in the industry! Her standards of quality, expectations, and anticipatory intuition deserve to be recognized. It’s important for women like Ashley to be visible in the construction industry to feel like they have ownership, independence, trust, and solid communication tools to decipher and problem solve the myriad of detail-oriented work we do.”

“Ashley is often the calm voice of reason in a room. Her strength of character and attentiveness allow other team members to press on with the work with more confidence. I am personally glad her voice and perspective are at the table. I think she makes a great role model for any woman or man who wants to achieve a leadership position.”

Operations Manager Alex Dahl, Pictured Right:

“Alex is strong, confident, and extremely capable. She can be the rock in a room full of rubber bands, as Brandi Carlile once said. Time after time, her consistency and compassion have not only helped me through some difficult challenges, but also shown me a strength worth striving for.”

“Alex came to Dovetail a few years back, though it feels like she has been here forever. She fits in like a puzzle piece thanks to her confidence and competence.”

Direction of People + Culture Rachel Kyger, Pictured Left:
“Rachel is the mother of Dovetail’s culture as it is today. I can’t picture Dovetail without her. Her influence breaks glass ceilings as if they were made of paper. I don’t doubt that her journey has been tough, but the steps she has taken to obtain said influence has opened doors for others to follow in her footsteps. Dovetail and the world are a better place thanks to the Rachels out there.”

Marketing Director Chloe Diaz, Pictured Right: “Chloe brings a much-needed level of energy and charisma to the team, when so often we can lose sight of our shared accomplishments. She helps build our confidence and morale in such a way as to give us the drive to move forward and upward.”

Controller Lauren Thomson, Pictured Left: “I appreciate how Lauren always takes the time to answer my questions thoroughly and patiently. Her knowledge and expertise give me comfort and confidence that my questions are heard and valid. Despite the high emotions that can run in our business, especially when larger numbers are at play, she presents the truth without judgment. I strive to reach this level of calm professionalism with personal care.”

Carpenter Emily Trabolsi, Pictured Right:
“Rarely will you encounter such an indefatigable spirit of positivity as in Emily. It is an absolute joy and honor to see her gain more skills and confidence in her carpentry journey. I appreciate the way she lifts up those around her, which in turn drives others to reciprocate. By doing so, Emily is constantly strengthening the core values that uphold the culture we are building here at Dovetail.”

Project Engineer Shelby Downs, Pictured Left:
“Shelby is one of the hardest working, most humble people on the team, making sure everyone has what they need and quietly plugging away, making sure nothing falls through the cracks.”

Billing & Payroll Specialist Amy Persell, Pictured Right:
“Dovetail, as we know it, would not be operating at the high level that it does without the constant and watchful eye of Amy. She has a balanced way of nudging those who need to stay on top of their paperwork, giving grace while not surrendering. I admire her poise and wit and appreciate all that she does.”

Carpenter Hannah McAtee:
“Hannah brings laughter, joy, and an eagerness to learn with her to site everyday, and performs whatever task is laid out before her without complaint. We all have rough days on site, and in life in general. On more than one occasion, when either myself or another team member is having a rough go, Hannah has gone out of her way to check in and offer support. Hannah is a phenomenal carpenter for the level of experience she came to a company like Dovetail with. She needs to hear how valuable she is to our team, and how the caliber of her work meets, if not exceeds, the standards we strive to reach. Hannah’s spirit, the quality of her work, and everything else that she has and continues to bring to site is the model of the hire this company needs. Her growth in the year we have worked with her is something I haven’t seen in years of apprentices and laborers. She is cherished valued and appreciated beyond words.”
