Portage Bay Float Home | Architect: Studio DIAA

Located on the banks of Portage Bay, this floating home of 650 square-feet features multiple skylights and floor to ceiling windows that open to a wrap-around deck that maximizes indoor-outdoor living. Built upon an original float of old-growth logs from the early 1900s, one of the biggest construction challenges was maintaining plumb, level, and square without laser levels and strings. Instead, we employed old school building techniques of measuring, math, and more measuring. 2021 AIA National Housing Award.
